Ti-1100-The LID bonded sandwich panel and SPF part above show the various product forms attainable with this high-temperature titanium alloy. As its name implies, this alloy can survive operating temperatures of 1100F for sustained exposure without experiencing excessive oxidation.


ODS Alloys-The Aerostructures Group is also developing fabrication techniques for oxide dispersion strengthened alloys that have applications in extreme temperature ranges (1800-2250F).

Ti-6-2-4-2-The jet pipe component shown above is the first production part to be made through LID bonding of this high-temperature titanium alloy.


Ti-Aluminide-Research into the use of titanium aluminide for higher temperature structures has accelerated with the increased interest in reusable space vehicles. Building on our experience with the earlier Super Alpha, as shown in the sandwich panel above to the left, R&D is investigating two other Ti-Al alloys-Gamma and Orthorhombic Ti-Al alloys. Various product forms using these alloys are shown in the three photos above and to the left.
