SPF and SPF/DB-Expanding our expertise in superplastic forming and diffusion bonding of titanium parts remains a high priority to the Aerostructures Group. Complex geometry has been demonstrated for both single and multiple sheet configurations as shown on the left. The R&D organization has developed the analytical tools to accurately predict part thinning and strain rates that occur during the manufacturing process. In an effort to test the process limits, a one-piece æ inch titanium plate was formed into a pylon structure, as shown below on the right.

Foamed Titanium Parts-Drape formed foamed titanium sandwich panels offer very attractive weight advantages. Parts made with foamed titanium, as shown at right, may be considered for future high temperature applications.
